VOLUNTEER YOUR TIME AT THE HUB

We appreciate our volunteers!

​

ALL VOLUNTEERS must:

  • Sign up online prior to each shift

  • Sign in on-site at the beginning of each shift

  • Be 15 years or older and able to work independently

  • Have the ability to lift 25 lbs

  • *Dress appropriately: sneakers or work boots, long shorts or pants, and a tee-shirt or sweatshirt. You must wear close-toed shoes. Volunteers wearing open-toed shoes will not be allowed in the warehouse and will be asked to leave.

 

Please note: some of these duties do require bending, standing, and lifting.

*If court mandate hours are needed, you must contact Hannah Newlin directly prior to signing up and volunteering.  No hours will be given unless previously approved.  Contact Hannah at hnewlin@theupcountyhub.org for more information or with any questions.

Recurring Volunteer Opportunities:

Food Warehouse Support:​

  • Non Perishable boxes

    • Assembling boxes​

    • Preparing and organizing materials for 

    • Filling and sealing boxes

  • Fresh produce bags

    • Open and prep bags for filling​

    • Identify 

  • MCPS Support Snack Bag Assembly

    • Assembling bags for students who are recipients of food support ​

  • Diaper Distribution Helper​​

    • Ensure that clients receive the proper size and quantity of diapers ​

  • ​Pantry Helper​

  • Clean Up Pantry area

  • Assist clients as they shop in our Choice Pantry

  • Weigh pantry items and record data for reporting purposes

 

Distribution Support: 

  • ​Data collection

  • Distribution of boxes and bags to clients 

  • Distribution days and times vary depending on the week

​

Delivery Program Driver:

  • *Vehicle required

  • Drivers are needed on Thursdays to deliver food packages to the doorstep of vulnerable Upcounty families who lack transportation and/or have mobility challenges.

  • Delivery is contactless. 

  • Addresses provided upon arrival at the Hub on delivery day.

 

**The UpCounty Hub is a SSL (Student Service Learning) approved organization for Montgomery County Public Schools.
