National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make neighborhoods safer and more caring places to live. It is usually held on the first Tuesday in August. The event encourages neighbors to get to know each other better, and to build a stronger sense of community by hosting block parties, cookouts, and various activities such as parades, festivals, safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, and visits from emergency personnel.
